Professional support, tailored to the times
Traversing our adult years is almost always full of celebrations and happy moments as well as times of struggles, transitions and/or grief. We could all use assistance at these challenging moments.
Some needs for therapy may be transient during a short time of stress or change; while some clinical intervention involves longer term therapeutic work towards learning more deeply about lifelong patterns and making, often courageous, changes to old emotional responses and unhealthy patterns of behavior.
I take whatever time is needed to create true and lasting change that allows clients to end up feeling happy and satisfied in all areas of their/your life.
This involves deep listening on my behalf as well as offering new insights on old patterns or thinking, feeling and acting, or teaching new strategies for dealing with challenges.
As a licensed Psychologist with extensive doctoral training, I provide in-person therapy in Half Moon Bay in the Mid-Peninsula and offer secure telehealth therapy throughout California. I draw from a deep understanding of the psyche to tailor our work to your personal needs, whether they point toward shorter-term solutions or longer-term exploration.

Hello, I'm Dr. Burdge.
My mission is to help you grow as your authentic self.
As a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I can provide support, guidance and insight into the many challenges you may be facing. Imagine a landscape where you can experience less anxiety, fewer depressive symptoms, and more life satisfaction.
I understand the challenges in managing stress and finding new pathways to happiness, self-care and connection with family members and community; especially in the face of the additional stressors of living through our current socio-political situation, which impacts people with different multiple challenges uniquely.
The care and attention that I provide to my clients is a foundation for change and healing. My work with you will be customized to your unique needs and is based on us creating a safe, supportive working relationship.
I encourage you to call me and ask me any questions you have about how therapy would be if we chose to work together. After this phone contact, Together, we can develop a strategy together for addressing your or your loved one’s psychological needs.
I look forward to our shared journey!
I help treat:
Relationship challenges
Are you stuck in patterns that you’ve outgrown and no longer fit? Just as we need personal growth to thrive, so do our relationships.
Stress management
We all have finite capacities and limits. We need to clearly understand our own capacity and limitations in order to be able to maintain our overall mental health.
Life transitions
Trauma (historic and recent)
Trauma is the result of experiencing challenging events that the body and mind are unable to fully understand or process at the moment of the event. I rely on techniques from IFS (Internal Family Systems), ACT, Attachment focused therapy, mindfulness and more in providing relief to clients.
Parenting
Older adults
Aging is full of new and unexpected challenges: physical changes, grief, new possibilities. Working with a therapist who “gets it” can ease the stress and emotional toll in navigating this territory.
I’ve worked with seniors in therapy for over 20 years and am here to help you thrive.
Depression
Depression is a brain response to life events, and/or a genetic disease. If you are experiencing symptoms of depression (hopelessness, sleep challenges, eating challenges, low energy, and/or low self-concept) then your body has entered a depressed state in order to cope with the events you are navigating.
To lift symptoms of depression, I take a three-pronged approach:
- working to understand the origins of the symptoms and what is unresolved in relation to these challenges;
- practicing skills to help your body come out of numbness or shut down, and
- considering if a consultation with an MD to discover if possible medication support is in order.
In all cases, the long-term solution is one that involves more self-understanding and development of new self-care skills.
